We start each Rotary year with a focus on Membership and New Club Development, as this is the monthly theme of August, and this year couldn’t have started better for Oslo International Rotary Club.
One of the main concerns of our Club President for 2024 – 2025, Gabriele Giglio, is to extend the number of Club members and to increase the engagement of the existing members, and he is already
making important steps in this direction. Our calendar is filled this year with social gatherings, both for members only and open for guests and friends, also with intern meetings where all members have the arena to contribute to our Club’s development. Stay tuned and keep yourself updated with all the news in our calendar.
September, the Rotary month of Basic Education and Literacy, is probably the most important Rotary month for OIRC, as our Club’s main project is a scholarship for students at The Sylhet Agricultural University in Bangladesh.
Through all our Club’s work, we are making efforts to carry on and extend our work with the students. This month only we had the pleasure to provide scholarship certificates for further academic education to two of our earlier students, Joykrishno Chondra Biswashorma, student in the Masters Program at the Department of Coastal and Marine Fisheries, and Mousumi Paul, from the Faculty of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, Sylhet Agricultural University, Bangladesh. We are always looking for new partenrs in our work, so let us know if you want to support our scholarhip program.
We are getting ready for October, the month of Rotary Alumni Reconnect Week, World Polio Day, and Rotaract UN Days. Our agenda this year will consist of meeting with several of our Club’s alumni, both from Youth Exchange and Rotary Youth Leadrship Awards, engaging call-to-actions for the World Polio Day, as well as strengthening our friendship with Rotaract Oslo International.
And this is just the beginning of a beautiful Rotary year. Because, as Rotary International President-
elect Stephanie Urchick said; “You create the magic with every project completed, every dollar
donated, and every new member.”
