Ever since 1949, each month of the year bears the encouragement to focus our Rotary efforts towards a given direction, of the many directions in which Rotary is active. The tradition started with Percy C. Hodgson, Rotary’s president in 1949-50, who has seen this as a “glorious opportunity to impart Rotary knowledge”, explaining that “lack of Rotary knowledge can be a deterrent to the successful operation of a Rotary club”.
The Rotary calendar celebrates The Rotary Foundation in November, and Oslo International Rotary Club couldn’t have found a better way to mark this celebration. On our Annual General Meeting held in December 2023, it has been decided by vote that from the Rotary year 2024 – 2025, our Club will start contributing to The Rotary Foundation. We already have in our Club the competence it takes to initiate and conduct this process, since our members Siri M. L. Joli, IPP & PR and Communication Committee Leader, and Fredrick Andersen Mulenga, TRF Committee Leader, have attended the training for TRF organized by District 2310 in the Rotary year 2022 – 2023.
We are looking forward to becoming strong contributors to TRF and to use this means of developing projects for turning into reality the most ambitious of our dreams as a Club.
The yearly calendar ends with December, when we in Rotary focus our efforts on Disease Preventing and Treatment. It has already become a tradition in our Club to join the digital efforts in our District and in Rotary International each year, in order to promote the importance of disease prevention and treatment, as well as to create awareness towards the importance of this area of action.
Following the example of other Clubs in our District, Oslo International Club has already started the preparation of an antipolio vaccination session for its members. This session will most probably be held during the second half of this Rotary year.
