The main project of Oslo International Rotary Club is the scholarship program for supporting underprivileged students at The Agricultural University of Sylhet. Despite the distance between Oslo, Norway and Sylhet, Bangladesh, and the five hours difference of time zone, we are holding a close and active communication with our A-students.
During the first week of this New Year, we had the honor to be invited at the scholarship awarding. On Tuesday, the 2nd of Juanuary, at 10.30 Am Oslo time, our members joned the ceremony online, together with Prof. Dr. Md. Jamal Uddin Bhuiyan, Vice Chancellor, and Dr. Tilak Chandra Nath, Director of External Affairs within the University.
Our Club’s member Syed Nuruddin, earlier graduate of The Agricultural University of Sylget and Project Committee Leader in our Club, held a wonderful speech, boosting our students’ motivation and empowering our mutual friendship.
While during the meeting we were impressed to hear the latest updates from the academic life of our students, after the meeting was over, we got overwhelmed by all the gratitude in the thankful messages we received from them.
We have constantly developed this project, getting to be better acquainted with our students, increasing the number of the students included in the program and, lately, by fundraising for the Student Corner, an initiative aiming at equipping the university with digital and practical means of study for all the students, not just those included in the program.
